Quartz Hill Team Seeking Berth in Little League Softball World Series

LA VERNE (CNS) - The all-star team from the Quartz Hill Little League will play for a berth in the Little League Softball World Series Friday when it faces its counterpart from the San Jose-based Almaden Little League.

The West Region Tournament Championship Game is a rematch of Quartz Hill's 11-4 victory Sunday. Almaden (3-1) then won three consecutive games in the elimination bracket to advance to the championship game, including an 8-4 victory over the all-star team from the Willcox Little League from Willcox, Arizona Thursday.

Quartz Hill, the Southern California champion, advanced to the championship game with a 2-1 victory over Willcox Wednesday, improving to 3-0.

The 2 p.m. game from Al Houghton Stadium in San Bernardino will be broadcast by ESPN.

The Little League Softball World Series will be played Aug. 6-13 in Greenville, North Carolina.
