COSTA MESA (CNS) - Homicide detectives are investigating the shooting death of a 38-year-old man in Costa Mesa, authorities said Tuesday.
The Costa Mesa Police Department received calls of gunshots heard in the 2000 block of the Sterling Alley, near Pomona Avenue, at about 10:45 p.m. Monday, police said.
Arriving officers found the victim on a sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers started life-saving efforts including CPR and the use of an AED machine.
Costa Mesa Fire and Rescue paramedics responded and rushed the victim to Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he died as a result of his injuries.
The man's name has been withheld pending notification of next of kin. Police said he was a Costa Mesa resident.
