One Killed At Two-Vehicle, Fiery Crash Near Rancho Mission Viejo

RANCHO MISSION VIEJO (CNS) - A person was killed and another person was rushed to a hospital, as a trauma patient, from a two-vehicle, fiery crash Saturday morning on the Ortega (74) Highway near Rancho Mission Viejo, in unincorporated Orange County, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 2:15 a.m. on the westbound highway, just west of Lucas, the California Highway Patrol reported.

One of the vehicles caught fire and smashed into a power pole.

Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the scene at 2:17 a.m., where they pronounced one person dead and rushed another person as a trauma patient to a hospital, the Orange County Fire Authority said.

A representative from the coroner's office was called to the location at 2:43 a.m.
