CULVER CITY (CNS) - Jason Sims, Culver City's interim police chief, has been named the city's new top cop.
A native of Ventura, Sims was hired by Culver City in 2000 and worked various assignments, including as a robbery/homicide detective and for the Culver City Police Department's Crime Impact Team.
In 2007, he was promoted to sergeant and supervised the patrol, detectives and parking sections. Sims was promoted to lieutenant in 2013 and captain in 2017. He was named the department's assistant chief in 2020, and as interim chief in January of this year.
Sims holds a bachelor of arts degree in sociology from Cal State Northridge, and a master of science degree in public policy and administration from California Lutheran University.
He also is a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute, the Los Angeles Police Department West Point Leadership Program, the Senior Management Institute for Police, and the FBI National Academy.
Sims' appointment was announced Monday by Culver City Mayor Albert Vera, the CCPD reported.
