Bee Swarm Descends on Encino; Man Hospitalized with Multiple Stings

ENCINO (CNS) - A swarm of bees descended on an Encino neighborhood Monday, sending one man to a hospital for treatment of multiple bee stings.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the 17100 block of West Adlon Road at 3:47 p.m. on a report of a man being stung repeatedly, according to Margaret Stewart with the LAFD.

The man was taken to a hospital in unknown condition.

Crews on the scene reported that a Los Angeles Police Department volunteer officer may have also been stung, but Stewart said that man was injured "while moving away from" the swarm of bees.

It was unclear what caused the bees to attack the man.

Due to the size of the swarm, fire officials urged residents to remain indoors with their windows and doors closed.
