SHERMAN OAKS (CNS) - A hit and run and driver crashed into a fire hydrant Tuesday in Sherman Oaks, unleashing a torrent of water into the air and streets.
According to Fox 11, the driver slammed into the hydrant around 1: 03 a.m. at 3905 N. Woodcliff Road and Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters responded to shut off the water as they sought to mitigate the damage.
A geyser as high as 100 feet in the air sprang from the hydrant at one point. Multiple homes suffered water damage as water flowed through the streets.
There were no details on the driver or the vehicle.
The Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety was also contacted to access any potential damage the water might have caused to the nearby hillside.
