Pedestrian and Motorist Killed in Downtown Los Angeles Crash

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A vehicle hit a man who was walking in the downtown Los Angeles area today, leaving the pedestrian and the motorist dead, authorities said.

The collision occurred about 1:25 a.m. on Sixth Street west of Alameda Street, the Los Angeles Police Department reported. ``A 25-year-old male pedestrian was walking westbound on the sidewalk of 6th Street when a vehicle traveling westbound collided with him,'' police said in a statement ``The vehicle continued in a westbound direction and collided with a building.''

Paramedics took the motorist and the pedestrian to a hospital, where both died, the LAPD reported. Their names were withheld, pending notification of their relatives. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call Detective D.
