LONG BEACH (CNS) - A 42-year-old Long Beach man is in custody for allegedly driving drunk and killing a pedestrian, then fleeing the scene.

Officers were flagged down around 3:15 p.m. Friday near the area of 45th Street and Atlantic Avenue, where they discovered a vehicle had struck a man and two parked cars before fleeing the scene, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

Paramedics rushed the victim to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. ``The (2011 Ford F-150) pinned the pedestrian between the two vehicles, before continuing eastbound and striking another parked vehicle,'' the LBPD said. Police said the truck was speeding eastbound on 45th Street, east of Atlantic, when it struck the man. Officers located the vehicle and its alleged driver, Jose Trujillo, near the area of Rose Avenue and 56th Street a short time later.

Trujillo was arrested on suspicion of murder, drunk driving causing bodily injury and hit and run resulting in death or injury. His bail was set at $2 million. The name of the pedestrian will be released pending notification of next of kin, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office. The LBPD's Collision Detail urged anyone with information regarding the crash to call them at 562-570-7355.
