SUN VALLEY (CNS) - Two people were killed Friday in a traffic crash on the Golden State (5) Freeway in the Sun Valley area.

The crash was reported about 5 a.m. on the southbound 5 Freeway north of the Hollywood (170) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Information was not immediately available on the identities of the two people, who died at the scene.

According to KTLA5, a 28-year-old man from Sunland and an 80-year-old woman from Panorama City were in a minivan that had stalled on the freeway after being involved in a minor collision with another vehicle, and a big rig then hit the victims' vehicle.

Multiple lanes of the southbound freeway were closed in the area for several hours while an investigation was conducted into the circumstances of the crash.
