POMONA (CNS) - Authorities are investigating the death of a child in Pomona, police said Tuesday.
Police were called to an apartment complex in the 1800 block of Cordova Street at 5:30 a.m. Monday, where the child had stopping breathing. Neighbors and paramedics arrived and initiated lifesaving efforts, according to the Pomona Police Department.
The child was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital, but was unable to be resuscitated and was pronounced dead.
Investigators from the police department's Major Crimes Unit responded and began an investigation, in which family members and witnesses were interviewed for further details.
The investigation is ongoing in cooperation with the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
