LANCASTER (CNS) - A Riverside woman was killed when a vehicle hit her as she stood near her disabled SUV in the Lancaster area, authorities said Wednesday.

The 68-year-old woman was fatally injured about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at Avenue J and 200th Street East, the California Highway Patrol reported. Authorities withheld her name, pending notification of her relatives.

According to the CHP, the woman was standing in front of her 2004 Toyota, which had stopped partially blocking the traffic lanes of Avenue J, and a 2011 Ford driven by Rosa Alvarenca, 52, of Barstow westbound on Avenue J struck her.

Alvarenca, who was not injured, remained at the scene, and she was not arrested, the CHP reported.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call Officer B. Longrifle at the Antelope Valley Area CHP office, 661-948-8541.
