LONG BEACH (CNS) - A man who allegedly threatened a relative with a knife barricaded himself inside a Long Beach residence Monday, prompting a standoff with police.

Officers responded at 11:13 a.m. to the 1100 block of Magnolia Avenue on a report of an assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

"Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim who stated his relative, a male adult suspect, threatened him with a knife and is currently inside their shared residence," the department said in a statement.

Police said all other people were evacuated from the residence, and some neighboring homes were also evacuated as a precaution.

The LBPD SWAT team was dispatched to the scene and was working to "de- escalate the situation," according to the department.

No injuries were reported.

Because of police activity, Magnolia Avenue was closed from 10th Street to North Loma Vista Drive, police said.
