Explosion Leads to Power Outage Downtown

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - About 500 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers in downtown Los Angeles and more than 3,200 customers in El Sereno are without power Monday.

An explosion damaged four electrical vaults in downtown Los Angeles caused power outages in that area and led to street closures on 3rd Street between Omar Street and Central Avenue.

LA DWP crews were responding to the explosions downtown.

There were 3,265 customers without power in the El Sereno neighborhood. Power was expected to be restored at 8:30 a.m., according to the LA DWP.
