SUN VALLEY (CNS) - A man was in custody Monday for allegedly killing a person in Sun Valley over the weekend.

Officers went to the 8500 block of Sunland Boulevard about 1 a.m. Saturday on a call of shots fired at an underground parking area of an apartment complex, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

"Upon arrival, the officers observed a male victim laying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound," an LAPD statement said. "Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the victim dead at scene."

Authorities withheld the name of the victim, pending notification of his next of kin.

Deshawn Wallace, 29, of West Hills, was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder, the LAPD reported. He was being held on $2 million bail, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

No details were immediately released about a motive for the killing.
