SANTA ANA (CNS) - A 33-year-old fugitive, who had been on the lam for a decade, was behind bars Tuesday on charges of stabbing the mother of his two children in Anaheim.

Pedro Fabian Rodriguez was extradited from Mexico and returned to Orange County Friday when he was served with a 10-year-old arrest warrant, according to the FBI and court records.

Rodriguez was accused of stabbing the victim about 18 times before fleeing, the FBI said.

Authorities tracked Rodriguez down in Mexico earlier this year and he was taken into custody there in July, the FBI said.

Rodriguez was charged in 2012 with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats and burglary, all felonies. He is also facing sentencing enhancements for attempted premeditated murder, causing great bodily injury in a domestic violence incident and personal use of a deadly weapon.

Rodriguez pleaded not guilty on Monday and was scheduled for a pretrial hearing on Dec. 1 in the North Justice Center in Fullerton.
