Truck Crashes on 710 Freeway, Trapping Driver

LONG BEACH (CNS) - A big rig crashed and overturned on the Long Beach (710) Freeway, temporarily trapping the driver inside the truck's cab and tying up morning commuter traffic Friday.

The crash happened around 5:35 a.m. on the southbound 710 Freeway at Pacific Coast Highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver was trapped inside the cab when it flipped over. Firefighters used hydraulic tools to rescue the man, the CHP reported. The condition of the driver was unknown.

A SigAlert was issued at 7:12 a.m. by the CHP. That SigAlert has since been canceled.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
