First Day of School at LMU Starts Monday

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - First day of school jitters and joy are on the schedule Monday at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

More than 1,700 first-year students and 7,100 returning undergraduate students are on campuses in Westchester and Playa Vista to start the new school year. The students make up a diverse group, from 45 states and 46 countries.

There are 8,837 students starting school at LMU, with 450 new transfer students, out of record pool of 21,600 applicants.

The student body has a 3.96 average weighted GPA, with international students making up 12% of the students. The largest number of first-year students are from California, followed by Washington, Texas, Illinois, Massachusetts and New York.

There are 750 graduate students enrolled at LMU, and there are students from 90 nations, including Brazil, China, India, Indonesia and Kuwait.
