LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Authorities Tuesday identified a man wanted on suspicion of robbery who police say was found dead of an apparent self- inflicted gunshot wound in a motel in the Westlake area following a standoff with law enforcement.

Officers went to the 100 block of North Alvarado Street about 4:30 a.m. Monday, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

The motel was evacuated, and a SWAT team was sent to the scene, police said. Traffic was routed away from the area, and a nearby school was locked down as a precaution.

The man was found dead shortly before noon Monday of an apparent self- inflicted wound, the LAPD reported. On Tuesday morning, the man was identified by the Los Angeles County coroner's office as Dominique McGuire, 33, of Gardena. An autopsy was pending.
