Kavanaugh Accuser Prepared to Testify on Her Terms

Christine Blasey Ford, the woman who accused Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault, has agreed to testify next week against the Supreme Court Justice nominee.

Ford's lawyer, Debra Katz, wrote in an email to Senate Judiciary Committee staffers that she "would be prepared to testify next week," only if the senate offers “terms that are fair and which ensure her safety.”

“As you are aware, she has been receiving death threats, which have been reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and she and her family have been forced out of their home,” Katz wrote in the email.

The New York Times obtained a copy of the elusive email that went on to explain that testifying Monday "is not possible and the Committee's insistence that it occur then is arbitrary in any event."

Katz said Ford wishes "a full investigation" should occur before her testimony.

Ford claims Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her at a high school party in Maryland in the 1980s. Kavanaugh has responded to the allegations and denies the incident ever occurred.

Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley set a deadline of 10 a.m. Friday for Ford to respond to the invitation to testify but has since said that deadline is flexible.

However the testimony pans out, leaders are not worried about Kavanaugh's confirmation for Supreme Court Justice Despite. When asked if Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell had confidence Kavanaugh would be confirmed, he responded affirmatively telling CNN, "Oh yeah."
