Step into a world of knights, pirates, and a little bit of magic because the Renaissance Pleasure Faire is back in Irwindale, and this season is leaning all the way into immersive fun.
What makes this event truly special is its legacy. Begun in 1963 in Agoura, near Malibu, the Renaissance Pleasure Faire was originally created as a “living history” experience for school children and families. More than six decades later, it has grown into a massive cultural event, welcoming more than 200,000 guests each season and inspiring Renaissance festivals across the country. Since its inception, more than 5 million people from around the world have stepped into this immersive world, with crowds averaging about 20,000 each weekend.
The Faire itself has traveled over the years—from its early days in Agoura to long runs at Glen Helen in Devore—before settling into its current home at the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area in Irwindale. Today, visitors wander through Port Deptford, a re-created 1580s English marketplace filled with artisans, performers, and larger-than-life characters. It’s part history lesson, part theatrical experience, and part full-day escape from modern life.
And that’s really the heart of it. The Renaissance was about rebirth, new ideas, creativity, and discovery, and the Faire leans into that spirit in a way that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly current. From cutting-edge performances to handcrafted goods and indulgent food, it’s designed to be a place where you can unplug, dress up, and make memories that stick. Or as organizers put it: leave your worries at the gate—and maybe pick up a turkey leg on the way in.

Renaissance Pleasure Faire returns with themed weekends that go far beyond turkey legs and jousting, offering guests a chance to fully step into character. From swashbuckling Pirate Weekend to a whimsical Cottagecore celebration and even a cosplay-inspired RennCon, organizers say every visit offers something new.
Opening weekend kicks off with Pirate & Marketplace festivities, where guests can test their knowledge in pirate trivia, hunt for treasure, and even attend a “School of Seafaring” designed for aspiring young buccaneers.
And for those looking to mix shopping with savings, Faire organizers are offering a special deal—spend big in the marketplace, and you could score a return visit later in the season.

Easter Sunday brings its own twist, with discounted admission and a full day of springtime revelry—but fairgoers will need to plan ahead, as tickets must be purchased online in advance.
Beyond opening weekend, the Faire leans into creativity. Cottagecore Weekend invites guests to embrace a cozy, woodland aesthetic with hands-on activities and artisan showcases. Meanwhile, RennCon turns the fairgrounds into one of the largest costume parties in Los Angeles, blending Renaissance flair with modern fandoms.
And yes—there’s something for the grown-ups too. The Faire’s popular Pub Crawl returns with a traveling, comedic performance through multiple taverns, complete with drinks, songs, and plenty of irreverent humor.
Throughout the season, guests can also take part in interactive adventures like the ongoing Gnome Hunt—tracking down hidden figures across the village for prizes and bragging rights.
Whether you’re dressing up in full costume or just showing up for the spectacle, the Renaissance Pleasure Faire continues to deliver a uniquely Southern California experience—part history lesson, part fantasy escape, and all-out entertainment.
