5 Million Fans & $250 Seats? Monks & Merrill Talk Olympic Ticket Prices

Ticket prices and purchase details for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games are now public, and organizers say they want to make the Games accessible — but some longtime Angelenos aren't so sure.

According to The Washington Post, most tickets will cost more than $250, even as organizers promise to offer one million tickets at just $28 each. That low-cost option is part of a broader plan that sets one-third of all 14 million available tickets under $100.

The ticket process works in stages. According to the official LA28 website, fans must first register for a ticket draw, which assigns random time slots to purchase tickets. Registration for the first draw opened in January and runs through March 18. No payment is required to register.

Between March 31 and April 7, registered fans will be notified by email if they've been selected for a purchase time slot. Getting a time slot does not guarantee tickets — it only opens a window to buy them.

Los Angeles and Oklahoma City residents get first priority, with a presale beginning April 2. Oklahoma City is hosting softball and canoe slalom events due to a lack of suitable venues in Southern California. Non-local buyers selected in the first draw can begin purchasing tickets on April 9.

Each person is limited to 12 tickets total, and anyone who enters the lottery is automatically entered into all future draws until that limit is reached.

Tickets for the Paralympic Games will go on sale in 2027.
