After Fatal Crash, Gary And Shannon Ask Why A 92-Year-Old Was Still Driving

Three people were killed and several others injured when a 92-year-old woman crashed her car into a 99 Ranch Market in Los Angeles' Westwood neighborhood on Thursday (February 5).

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the elderly driver first struck a bicyclist while driving on Westwood Boulevard before continuing another block and plowing into the grocery store's bakery section around 12:11 p.m., trapping multiple people beneath her vehicle.

The victims were identified as two men, ages 30 and 55, and a 42-year-old woman, all of whom died at the scene. Four others were hospitalized—two men, both 35, in critical condition, and two men, ages 37 and 38, with minor injuries.

"This does not seem to be of any ill intent," Fire Capt. Erik Scott said, adding that the incident "does not seem to be an intentional act, but rather being investigated, so far, as an accidental traffic collision."

In the aftermath of the deadly crash, Gary and Shannon discussed the difficult conversations families need to have about when to take away the keys from their elderly parents.
