Bill Handel: AI Has Flipped The College Payoff, "Trades Are Winning"

Getting a job these days can be really hard, whether you are a young person fresh out of college with a bachelor's degree, or middle-aged job seeker with 15 years of experience. The entry-level jobs for young people don't exist anymore, as companies only want to hire people with experience. Then, for those with experience, companies are reluctant to hire people who are considered overqualified for the job.

AI is reshaping the job market, making it harder for people to find jobs, and leaving many who spent four years in college stuck with hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loans with shrinking job prospects. However, as Bill Handel pointed out, those who work in trades, are more likely to find well-paying jobs than those with a degree.

"So let's say you decided you're not going to college and you're not gonna pay insane tuition. Let's say you go and you learn how to be an elevator repair person or, installer. Average salary, $103,000 a year. Aircraft mechanic, $85,000 a year," he said, noting you can be qualified for those jobs with just two years of training.
