Comedians, including former "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno, have weighed in on Jimmy Kimmel's indefinite suspension following comments about the shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. During a ceremony where journalist Chris Wallace received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Leno expressed his support for Kimmel, emphasizing the importance of free speech. "I'm on Jimmy Kimmel's side," Leno told Access Hollywood. "You don't get canceled saying popular things. Usually, it's the truth that winds up getting canceled."
Leno, who has a history of feuding with Kimmel, added that Kimmel is talented and will likely return to television soon. "It's a comedian talking. If you don't like it, don't watch it," Leno told reporters. Other comedians, including Jimmy Fallon, Jon Stewart, and Seth Meyers, have also commented on the situation, highlighting the ongoing debate about free speech in media.
Kimmel's suspension followed his remarks about Kirk's death, which sparked controversy and led to pressure from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Despite the suspension, Kimmel has not apologized for his comments, and it remains unclear when "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" will return to the air.
