Disneyland's Autopia Shuts Down After Car Derails

A car derailed on Disneyland's Autopia ride, located in Tomorrowland, leading to the ride's temporary shutdown on Wednesday. According to FOX 35 Orlando, a video shared by @Laughing_Place on social media showed the car in the bushes and shrubs. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The incident prompted Disney cast members to evacuate guests from the ride. Autopia, a family attraction that allows children taller than 32 inches to drive makeshift cars on rails, was closed for the afternoon but resumed operations later the same day. The ride, which opened with Disneyland in 1955, is set to receive fully-electric cars by the fall of 2026.

An Inside the Magic report mentioned that such derailments are rare but can occur, particularly around the off-road area of the track. Despite the rarity, the ride's safety features include front and rear bumpers and an undercarriage guide rail to safeguard trips.

Autopia is one of the few original attractions still operating at Disneyland. The ride's history includes various updates to its roadways and car styles, maintaining its appeal over the decades.
