A 71-year-old man from Nevada, Karl Mitchell, was arrested after authorities discovered seven tigers in his home, which he claimed were "emotional support animals." The incident occurred in Pahrump, a town about 65 miles west of Las Vegas, on March 2.
According to KTLA, authorities from Nye County raided Mitchell's home, stating that he lacked the necessary permits to keep the tigers. Nye County Sheriff Joe McGill reported that Mitchell had been observed walking the tigers on and off his desert property. Additionally, social media posts showed him allowing others to interact with the animals, actions that violated local laws.
Mitchell's case highlights ongoing concerns about the private ownership of exotic animals and the potential risks they pose to both the animals and the community.
