An angry customer drove his recently purchased Subaru into a dealership in Sandy, Utah, after a refund dispute. Michael Lee Murray, 35, bought the used Subaru Outback from Tim Dahle Mazda Southtowne earlier that day for $4,000. He soon discovered mechanical issues and returned to the dealership, demanding a refund, claiming the car was a "lemon."
The dealership had informed Murray that the car was sold "as is" and needed more inspection and work. Despite being offered a refund or a vehicle swap, Murray threatened to crash the car into the dealership if his demands were not met. He then drove the vehicle through the dealership's glass doors, causing an estimated $10,000 in damages.
The incident, captured on video, showed Murray driving the car through the glass and hitting a desk. No one was injured, although seven salesmen were near the front door at the time. Murray was arrested and charged with criminal mischief and reckless endangerment.
Murray admitted to reaching his "breaking point" over the denied refund, stating, "I was just really angry, upset about my money."
