Arrest Made in December 2023 Shooting Death of Man in Long Beach

LONG BEACH (CNS) - A parolee has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the December 2023 shooting of a man in Long Beach that also left another man injured, authorities said Friday.

Officers dispatched about 10:20 p.m. on Dec. 21, 2023, to a shooting in the 200 block Eagle Street located two men suffering from gunshot wounds, the Long Beach Police Department reported. Ismael Cuevas, 28, of Long Beach, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second man was taken to a hospital but survived, police said.

Detectives arrested parolee Bryan Lopez, 42, of Long Beach, about 7:50 a.m. Thursday. He was located near the 2800 block of Pacific Avenue, police said.

Lopez was arrested on suspicion of murder, attempted murder, felon in possession of a firearm and violation of his probation. His bail was set at $3 million.

"Detectives subsequently served a search warrant at Lopez's residence in the city of Long Beach and a search warrant for his residence in the city of Los Angeles," according to a police statement.
