LOS ANGELES (CNS)  - In the wake of a recent tentative settlement of the case, a judge Wednesday canceled next month's scheduled trial of a woman's lawsuit against Paula Patton that alleged the actress' German shepherd bit the plaintiff while she was visiting Patton's Calabasas home in 2020.

The animal had allegedly attacked others in the past, according to Gina Conte's Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit. On Wednesday, Judge Anne Hwang removed both the scheduled April 18 final status conference and the May 3 nonjury trial from the court docket.

On Monday, Conte's attorney filed court papers with the judge informing her of a "conditional" accord in the case with the expectation a request for dismissal will be brought by June 1.

No settlement terms were divulged.

Conte was at Patton's home on Aug. 2, 2020, when the actress' dog attacked and bit the plaintiff "without provocation or warning," the suit stated.

Conte believes the same dog previously attacked someone else, knocking the victim down and "ripping the flesh out of his right arm," according to the suit brought in July 2022.

In their court papers, Patton's attorneys urged that Conte's lawsuit be dismissed. The lawyers cited multiple defenses and noted that Conte later wrote the 48-year-old "Precious" actress saying, "I hope you know that I in no way hold you responsible."
