Astronomers have discovered what might be the brightest object in the universe.
- It's a quasar that shines 500 trillion times brighter than the Sun, according to researchers in the journal Nature Astronomy.
- At the quasar's center is a massive black hole 17 billion times the size of our Sun - and devours the equivalent of a sun every single day.
- The object, dubbed J0529-4351, was thought to be a star when it was first discovered in 1980, but last year astronomers determined it was a quasar.
