SAN PEDRO (CNS) - Firefighters responded to a cliff in San Pedro Saturday to rescue a man who became stranded about 75 feet from the cliff top, authorities said.

The man was reported stranded at about 9 a.m. Saturday near 4040 S. Bluff Place, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

LAFD officials said land, air and sea resources were deployed to rescue the man, who was "stranded but physically stable" about 20 feet above sea level.

The department said he did not appear to be injured. LAFD divers swam from their fireboat to assist at the shoreline, with LAFD rescue helicopters hovering above.

"Because of high tide and cold seas, the man will soon be hoisted aboard the helicopter. He will be transferred the care of LAFD ground crews at a bluff top landing zone," the department said.
