The ski slopes at the Palisades Tahoe Resort were shut down Wednesday after an avalanche occurred.
- The massive snow slide occurred on the Palisades side of the mountain at about 9:30 a.m. California time, authorities say. However, both sides have been closed as rescue teams search for anyone who might have been caught in the avalanche, according to Placer County Sheriff’s Sergeant David Smith.
- That’s not to say the danger has passed at the Northern California resort. As of 3 p.m. EST, snow was falling on Tahoe – and the Sierra Avalanche Center reports another avalanche is possible.
