BURBANK (CNS) - The Burbank Police Department has been awarded a $190,000 state grant to improve traffic safety operations, it was reported Tuesday.

"This funding will strengthen our commitment to public safety in our community," Burbank Police Lt. John Pfrommer said in a statement.

The grant will help fund programs such as DUI checkpoints and patrols, high-visibility distracted driving enforcement operations, and community presentations on traffic safety issues such as distracted driving, impaired driving, speeding and bicycle and pedestrian safety.

Funding for the program, which will run through September 2024, was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
