Fructose Linked To Alzheimer's Disease

A new study links fructose to the development of Alzheimer's disease.

  • Researchers say Alzheimer's could be largely driven by diet, tracing it to an ancient foraging instinct in early humans that can lead to "overeating of high-fat, sugary and salty food".
  • Those foods lead to higher fructose production, which reduces blood flow to the cerebral cortex and can cause brain atrophy.
