LeBron James has made recent comments that he is unhappy with the Lakers' performance. The soon-to-be 38-year-old basketball legend has not been sounding too positive lately when it comes to being on the Lakers. The purple and gold have a paltry 14-21 record and are currently on pace to not make the playoffs for the second year in a row. James himself doesn't seem confident the Lakers will make the playoffs at this point in the season. He made headlines last week for deleting a tweet he posted last year vowing to never miss the playoffs for the rest of his career.
James has become more vocal about his dissatisfaction with the team's poor performance recently. After a loss to the Miami Heat on Wednesday, he let it be known he feels that his final years as an elite basketball talent are being wasted on the current Lakers roster.
“I don’t want to finish my career playing at this level from a team aspect,” James said. “Playing basketball at this level just to be playing basketball is not in my DNA. I know what I can still bring to any ball club with the right pieces. I’m a winner and I want to win … so we’ll see what happens and see how fresh my mind stays over the next couple of years.”
It is becoming increasingly clear that James is unhappy with the Lakers organization and if LA can't make trades to improve the team in the offseason James will most likely start requesting to be traded to another championship contender.
In his illustrious 20-year career LeBron James has only missed the playoffs four times. Two of those seasons were with the Lakers and it is becoming increasingly probable that he will miss the playoffs yet again. James has seen some team success in LA earning his fourth NBA title with the Lakers during the 'bubble' playoffs in 2020. James is on track to become the NBA's leading scorer of all-time this season trailing current all-time scoring leader Kareem Abdul-Jabbar by less than 600 points.
