Target has announced a recall of 204,000 weighted blankets after two young girls died while using them.
- The recall involves Pillowfort Weighted Blankets, which Target sold exclusively from December 2018 through September 2022. Target officials say anyone who owns one of the blankets should stop using it immediately and bring it back to the store for a refund.
- The deaths occurred in April at North Carolina's Camp Lejeune, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Two girls, ages 4 and 6, died of asphyxiation after climbing inside the blanket's removable cover and zipping it closed, the commission reports. At least four other purchasers have reported issues with their children getting trapped inside the blanket's cover, Target officials say.
