Car rental company Hertz may have violated the federal Motor Safety Act.
- According to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Hertz allegedly rented out Ford and Nissan vehicles with unrepaired safety recalls.
- In a statement, the NHTSA wrote: "Information gathered by the agency to date, including from vehicle manufacturers, suggests repairs required under multiple NHTSA safety recalls were not made prior to the rental of such affected vehicles to Hertz customers."
- Vehicles needing recalls are reportedly from the years 2018 through 2020.
