Tesla issued a recall today due to some of its cars losing power steering assist while driving over rough roads or hitting potholes. Over 40,000 vehicles are affected including 2017 - 2021 Model S and Model X vehicles. The recall was voluntarily issued by Tesla and will require a software update to fix the problem. The recall was made public today by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, this comes during a rough time for the electric automaker as Tesla's stock has dropped 15% in the last week. This recall is also just one among several recent Tesla vehicle recalls.

- Feb. 8th: 27,000 vehicles recalled because windshields wouldn't defrost.
- Feb. 4th: 580,000 vehicles recalled for its "Boombox," feature that interfered with its Pedestrian Warning System.
- Feb. 1st: 817,000 vehicles recalled for faulty seatbelt reminder.
- Jan. 27th: 54,000 vehicles recalled because Tesla's Full Self-Driving software ignored stop signs.
- Dec 21st: 475,000 vehicles recalled for either rearview camera not displaying or faulty hood latch that would open while driving.
- Nov 9th: 7,600 vehicles recalled for airbags that could potentially tear on impact.
- Oct 29th: 12,000 vehicles recalled because of a false forward collision warning.
- Oct 25th: 2,800 vehicles recalled for loose suspension bolts.
