Two of the nation's largest supermarket chains are looking to combine forces in a $24.6 billion merger.
- The deal would merge Kroger - the largest chain in the U.S. with over 2,800 stores - and Albertsons, with over 2,200 stores in 34 states.
- The merger would result in a chain of more than 5,000 stores, 4,000 pharmacies and over 700,000 workers, valued at roughly $24.6 billion.
- The deal will likely be reviewed by federal regulators.
