LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer and Foster Care Counts founder/president Jeanne Pritzker will be honored later this month by The Los Angeles Trust for Children's Health for their work supporting the well-being of youth.

Ferrer will receive the organization's Champion Award, while Pritzker will receive the Visionary Award. The honors will be presented during the trust's second annual Salute to Student Health event Sept. 29 at Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles.

According to the organization, Ferrer is being recognized for her work to increase the number of student Wellbeing Centers in the county and for her "true effective leadership" during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pritzker will be honored for her dedication to the "equitable well- being of Los Angeles youth, particularly those who live in foster care and those who need access to mental health in schools."

Proceeds raised during the Salute to Student Health event benefit the trust's student-outreach programs. The trust works to expand access to health and mental-health care, along with substance-use prevention programs, oral health and nutrition programs.
