Radford Fire Near Big Bear Grows To 917 Acres

A California wildfire that began Monday near Big Bear has grown from 50 acres to 917, officials say.

Dubbed "The Radford Fire," the blaze was first reported to fire officials at about 2 p.m. Monday in an area sandwiched by the Bear Mountain and Snow Summit ski resorts.

Since then, evacuation orders have been issued for hundreds of residents in the area, according to the San Bernardino Sheriff's Office.

And although firefighters have been working to keep the blaze from spreading to the neighboring ski resorts, as of 5 p.m. Tuesday it remained just 2 percent contained.
