LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A Los Angeles Police Department motorcycle officer is in stable condition after being injured in a hit-and-run collision on the southbound Harbor (110) Freeway in South Los Angeles and authorities Friday are searching for the suspect vehicle.
The crash involving several vehicles was reported about 8:05 p.m. Thursday near the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway, and the collision caused the officer to be knocked off his motorcycle and possibly strike the freeway's center divider, according to the LAPD.
One other person was injured in the collision and taken to a hospital along with the officer, but their conditions were not immediately known.
Deputy Brenda Serna of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed to City News Service that authorities are looking for a white, 2014 or 2015 BMW convertible.
"The officer is in stable condition and it was a hit and run," LAPD Officer Matthew Cruz told City News Service.
All lanes of the southbound Harbor Freeway in the vicinity of the crash were closed for an unknown duration as authorities investigated the collision, and traffic was being diverted onto the Glenn Anderson Freeway.
The CHP is handling the investigation.
