A small plane flying a banner crashed into the ocean during a lifeguard competition along Southern California's well-known Huntington Beach today.

According to Jennifer Carey, a representative for the city of Huntington Beach, the pilot was transported to the hospital with only scrapes and bruises.
Lt. Sondra-Kay Kneen of the Coast Guard estimates that the plane crashed into the water around 30 yards from shore.
The official cause of why the plane went down is unknown. However, one of the kids on the scene said the propeller was not working...
