LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Two Commerce robbery suspects, one of whom led authorities on a wild chase in a Mercedes SUV that involved at least two collisions, were taken into custody today.

The pair allegedly robbed a T-Mobile store about 12:35 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The suspects fled in a white SUV, although one of them got out of the vehicle and was taken into custody, according to the sheriff's department.

The driver, however, fled at high speed, traveling on the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway, then heading south on Crenshaw Boulevard. The driver sped into a residential neighborhood, circling streets and occasionally driving into cul-de-sacs, forcing him to U-turn.

At one point, he drove onto a sidewalk, then sped around a corner and slammed head-on into a sedan. With the SUV relatively undamaged, the suspect backed away from the sedan and fled again.

A few minutes later, the suspect was speeding southbound on Van Ness Avenue into the Torrance area when the SUV was clipped by another vehicle at an intersection.

The suspect kept going, but a short time later he stopped on Van Ness near 173rd Street in Torrance and was taken into custody.
