Fort Worth, Texas is officially going crypto.
- The city will become the first in the U.S. to mine bitcoin, with the City Council approving the program unanimously on Tuesday.
- Three 'mining' machines were placed inside the Fort Worth City Hall and switched on Tuesday afternoon, where they will run 24/7 over the next six months.
- Each machine will use roughly 1,400 watts of electricity per hour - the same rate as a vacuum cleaner - but city officials say the cost will be offset by the Bitcoin that's generated.
- Have you thought about mining crypto? Will we start to see more cities start programs like this?
