A family is in a desperate search for the beloved pet after he was stolen during a grand theft auto incident on Saturday.

The Los Angeles Police Department says the incident happened in the 1100 block of North Vermont Avenue. The suspects stole a 2019 White Honda Pilot SUV.

According to officials, the driver of the vehicle had left her dog inside the car with the engine and air conditioning left on. "The thieves not only stole her SUV, but her dog as well," LAPD officials stated.

Within 24 hours, LAPD Rampart officers were able to locate and recover the vehicle in the 3900 block of Middlebury Street.

Unfortunately, the dog was not found inside the vehicle when the family SUV was located on Sunday.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Northeast Area detectives are asking for the public’s assistance for any information leading to the recovery of the family’s pet dog, “Loki”.
