The ongoing Covid situation has affected local small businesses and many are struggling to stay open. In an effort to help those small businesses survive, we are featuring them in a segment we call #SmallBusinessShoutout!

This week for our #SmallBusinessShoutout, we are joined by Chef and Owner Ricardo Zarate of Causita "Nikkei Peruvian cuisine"

Richard Zarate, born in Lima, Peru. Zarate grew up in a shoebox-shaped cement house with a tin roof, in the 1970s and 1980s, as the second youngest of 13 siblings.

At age 17, Zarate longed to be in the kitchen full-time, enrolled in his hometown culinary school, Instituto de las Américas. Paving the groundwork of his Peruvian influence.
