POMONA (CNS) - Authorities today identified one of two women who were killed when a car rear-ended another on the Pomona (60) Freeway.

Julia Schmidt, 24, of Chino died at the scene after the 2013 Toyota Camry she was riding in was rear-ended by a 2019 Honda Civic about 2:05 a.m. Sunday on the eastbound freeway, west of Reservoir Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The woman driving the Honda also died at the scene, but her name was withheld pending notification of her next of kin.

The driver of the Camry -- a 24-year-old man -- suffered minor injuries in the crash and was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.

The CHP's Baldwin Park area office urged anyone with information regarding the crash to call them at 626-338-1164.
