After a whirlwind week, Elon Musk has decided not to join Twitter Inc.'s board of directors, officials announced.

The dramatic reversal comes after Musk's 9.2% stake in Twitter was made public last Monday. It was confirmed last Tuesday that there were plans for him to join the board and Musk was vocal about the criticisms, suggestions, and changes he would make to the company.

Officials initially said they were excited to have Musk on the board and were looking forward to collaborating with him.

According to Twitter's CEO Parag Argrawal, Musk was to join the board on Saturday but announced that same morning that he will no longer join the board.

Although officials did not confirm a reason behind Musk's decision to not join the board after all, it was stated that they do believe "this is for the best".

However, the end is not in sight for Musk's dealings with Twitter. It is reported that during an amended regulatory filing on Monday that Musk may still engage with the company on a number of issues ranging from strategy, business operations, and governance "without limitation."

Elon Musk, the world's richest person, has long been known for his unpredictable behavior as well as his business acumen. The back-and-forth between joining the board and not joining the board has received a bevy of responses ranging from those who are surprised and those who are exhausted by the ever-changing decisions.
