Paula Patton has set the internet ablaze after she posted an Instagram video of her mother's "famous" fried chicken recipe.
In the Instagram video, Patton is taking her followers through the process of making 138 pieces of fried chicken for her son Julian's school.
Patton first rinses the chicken, then proceeds to dip it in flour, she then places the flour-coated chicken in avocado oil. As it is frying, she adds Lawry's seasoning salt, paprika, and pepper. THAT'S WHERE THE INTERNET WENT WILD!!!!!!
From comments about Patton not rinsing it enough to questions about why she is seasoning the chicken as it was frying to the chicken not being cooked enough, Patton's way of cooking fried chicken really stirred the internet up.
Patton has responded to the comments about her way of making fried chicken. She said:
"I just wanted to respond and say listen, I get it,"
"Peace, love and fried chicken." ... "It might look crazy. It is the way we do it. My mom taught me."
She went on to say that she did wash the chicken thoroughly enough because she was serving this chicken to her son and his schoolmates. She suggested it may have seemed short due to the way it was edited.
As far as why she adds seasoning to the oil, Patton responded:
"We put the seasonings in the oil and all that,"
"It's just the way we do it."
